I love how our family board game nights have brought our family closer together, as well as presented many learning opportunities.   Winning Moves USA is the leading producer of board games for the major board game makers out there.  I love that when I am looking to have a board game night with my family, I know it was made with high-quality standards from Winning Moves USA!  I received three board games from Winning Moves USA in exchange for honest opinion.

What did I think?

We have a minimum one family board game night per week, often times with our girls, that is more like two or three times per week.  We absolutely love sitting around the coffee table and playing board games!  Other than just spending some good old fashioned time together without the interruption of electronics, we also get some great teaching moments with the girls, too!  Many games, without intention, have great educational aspects from reading skills to math skills, linear thinking, strategic thinking and so much more!

The three games I just received are all great examples of that!

Pay Day

This classic board game of making money helps kids learn about basic financial planning (when to buy and sell those stocks!), counting, calendar functions and so much more!  The girls loved this game and regularly ask to play it.  They enjoy the bright and detailed illustrations, as well as the laugh-inducing cards describing the companies you have purchased or the postcards from your parents.  This is a definite “win” in my book!

Pass the Pigs: Pig Party!

Now, this is a game I have seen, but never played.  This game is rated ages 7 and up, but Miss LadyBug (who will be 5 next week), was just as easily able to keep up.  Each player receives a pair of fun colored pigs and then roll the pigs like dice to match the card on the table!  This game is fun, makes you giggle when the pigs land in funny positions and really has a lot of value-add!  Kids can work on hand-eye coordination with the pig rolling, pattern matching and so much more.  I love that this set comes with a handy carrying case so that you can take your Pig Party anywhere and have more fun!

5ive Straight

In this unique board game of strategy, kids will learn about planning and a lot about luck of the draw as they work to getting five pegs of their color in a row!  Miss LadyBug sat this one out, but Miss Goose (six years old) had a blast and really put a lot of thought into each move.  I loved watching her grasp the concepts of the game and begin to realize how she could better position herself in different areas of the board to win.  She does need to work on her poker face though, as she gave herself a way a few times when she drew the card she would need to increase her line!
