I have told you before, and I continue to admit: I love salty snacks! But every year, it becomes more and more clear that I cannot (and should not!) eat like I did in the past. It is time to replace my naughty snacks with healthier (and often tastier!) alternatives! I recently received Kale & Chia Chips from SuperEats in exchange for a review. These potato alternative chips offer a new spin on the healthy chip options!
What did I think?
When I first received my SuperEats Kale & Chia Chips, I flipped the bag over to see if these chips really did offer any health benefits. I am happy to share – they do! Leading off with kale as the primary ingredient in these kale and chia chips, you do get to realize the many benefits that kale has to offer! The SuperEats kale and chia chips are full of antioxidants, fiber, protein, Omega 3s and Vitamins A and C! Another reason to happy dance? These chips are also non-GMO and gluten-free (hooray!). The ingredient list is easy to read and there are no tricky hidden ingredients, so you can feel good knowing what you are putting into your body when you pop open a bag of these chips!
There are currently five fun kale and chia chip varieties available – I had the opportunity to check out four of them!
Sea Salt – This light and crunchy chip is the perfect vessel for light dips and spreads. It has an earthy flavor (just as I would expect with a kale chip) that creates a tasty harmony with the spinach dip I made. I am loving this chip!
Ranch – By far the girls’ favorite flavor was the Ranch kale and chia chip! Again we have the earthy kale and chia undertones brightened with the rich and flavorful spices of a typical ranch dip – including onion and garlic. I didn’t get many of these, but I imagine they would go well with a dip, too!
Tomato Basil – This kale chip is likely more of an acquired taste. For me, the basil was a bit strong, but a friend who tried them disagreed with me and felt it was just right. I usually love basil, but combined with the kale, it was not a match in heaven for me.
Chili Lime – Now these kale and chia chips sang to me! The bright flavor of lime juxtaposed with the spice of chili against the kale backdrop and you have a chip made to snack on! This is one chip that you will just want to eat alone – no dips required!
The Kale and Chia chips from SuperEats are fun to eat, safe to eat and good for you! I love that I am getting my salty snack fix while getting 80% of my daily value of Vitamin C as well as throwing some Calcium, protein and dietary fiber into the mix, too!
