Our oldest daughter is six and that means when it comes to clothing for girls, she has moved into the next size realm, the dreaded 6-14 range in most stores that, in my opinion, has forced our little ones to grow up way too quickly. You walk in and everything is loud, midriff, and hinting at sexuality. While I am certainly not a prude by any stretch of the imagination, I do believe in keeping our little girls little for as long as possible. Soon enough they are going to be thrust into the world of low cut shirts, low rise jeans and lacy bras – I have no interest in putting my girls into that any earlier than need be. Fortunately, for me, the founder of Matilda Jane Clothing felt the same way and created a beautiful and whimsical line of clothing for girls, distributed through their exclusive network of Trunk Keepers that are aimed at keeping girls' clothes youthful! I received an outfit from the Matilda Jane Clothing Paint By Numbers line in exchange for my honest opinion.
What did I think?
The first thing I noticed about the Matilda Jane Clothing outfit was the beautiful wrapping it arrives in. Each piece was wrapped in tissue paper, or a beautiful bag – so you could feel good about ordering something as a gift and knowing it will arrive looking fabulous! I love how well made these clothes are, each piece is well put together and has strong seams, that will hold up well to an active child, which I love!
We received the Monica Dress, Razzleberry Big Ruffles pants and a headband and I have to say, Miss Goose is in LOVE with this style! The outfits in the Paint By Numbers line are bohemian inspired with lots of ruffles, flowers, flowy lines and soft colors. The pieces look amazing together, but could easily be paired with other pieces from the same line, or supplemented with pieces you already have at home. The peter pan collar on the Monica Dress is a simple detail, but really makes this dress have a youthful feel and appropriate neckline. I love the details in the print and how she can really move in this outfit.
If you are looking for beautiful, comfortable and appropriate clothing for girls that are in your life – I highly recommend you check out Matilda Jane Clothing and look into hosting a Trunk party. We have washed the outfit several times and it has held up beautifully with no issues – and still looks as great as the day we received it. When I was showing Miss Goose the rest of the outfits on the website, we noticed that Matilda Jane also offers as adult line of clothes, which are definitely within my style eye! When Miss Goose saw that, she squealed and declared that I “must” get something so that we can match and look like “fashionistas” together! And you know what? I think she’s right! We would both be wearing age-appropriate, yet fashion-forward and stylish outfits!
