I do not know about the kids in your house, but mine eat WAY better when the food is presented in a fun, kid-friendly way. I use pancake molds (we have the Star Wars ship fleet – totally cool) and I cut sandwiches into fun shapes. With our oldest starting school this last year, she noticed that other kids had these “cool lunches in a yellow box!”. Between allergies and our general aversion of chemical/sodium-laden foods, there was no way I was going to purchase a Lunchable, but what could I do to help her feel better about it? Make my own, that’s what! Through the use of tiny cookie cutters and crackers, I made Miss Goose her own “Gooseable” a few times a week and she was thrilled! It could be a pain to cut each piece of cheese and ham multiple times with the tiny cutter, but it made her happy and kept me feeling good about what she was eating each day. There had to be a faster/better way to do this – guess what? There was! Fun Bites are fun shaped food cutters that slice foods into different shapes in a quick and uniform manner!
What did I think?
The awesome people at Fun Bites sent me their Hearts cutter to review. These mom-invented food cutters are BPA-free and dishwasher safe! The Hearts cutter will cut cheese, bread, meat, fruit, veggies and almost anything (within reason) into a heart made from geometric shapes! I love that it has a convenient “pop topper” that pushes out your food, so you do not have to dig into the cutter, essentially ruining the shape for which you were going. This heart cutter is incredibly popular in my house – the first time I made the girls’ lunches with it, I did not say a word. I simply cut up the cheese and ham, filled up their little bento boxes and sent them on to daycare. That afternoon when I picked them up, they were beside themselves with glee telling me how their lunches were shaped like a big heart and that they could make the cheese and ham into different shapes! The next day I cut up watermelon and they really loved that, too! Now it is a game. I cut up two or three hearts with different foods and the girls try to “finish the puzzle” first. Then it is a contest on who can finish their heart first. I love that this simple food cutter has made food fun for the girls, educational since they are putting the puzzle together and easy for me to do!
The Fun Bites food cutters are easy to use, easy on your budget and make eating a breeze for kids! Fun Bites offers three enjoyable shapes: hearts, squares and triangles. They have an amazing deal that if you buy all three you save almost $10! Better yet, use coupon code FUNTIME to save 20% Wow! I will definitely be looking to add the triangles and squares to our collection as I can only imagine all the fun things we could do with them!
