With just more than a month before school starts back up (I feel like it just ended!), we are filling our summer with memories each and every day. While we want to keep up the level of fun and excitement, we make sure to carve out time several times a week to make sure the girls are learning something new and keeping important skills like math skills, reading skills and everything in between current and fresh. One of our favorite ways to keep school skills from atrophying during the summer months is by making it fun with educational games and toys from Learning Resources! We received the 100 Ant Picnic Math Activity Set in exchange for our honest opinions.
What did we think and did it improve math skills?
This fun math skills based set is perfect for those ages 4 and up (there are 100 small pieces – so those that will “mouth” toys, should not play with this!) and brings a fun summer-themed twist to math skill building! This set comes with a double-sided 100 board that looks like a picnic blanket! On one side, numbered 1 to 100, children can work on number recognition, counting, skip counting, number patterns, teaching evens/odds and more! The other side is a dry erase blank board and can be used in many different ways to promote learning and engagement with the numbers!
Miss LadyBug absolutely adores this set! She has pulled it out on more than one occasion to work on her skip counting and pattern building, all on her own! I have seen her math skills flourish the more she interacts with this math set! She and Miss Goose have even started to create their own number-based games using the counting ants (that come in two colors) and positioning on the board. I haven’t quite figured out the rules of this self-made game – but I know it involves adding, subtracting and other basic math skills that I am happy to watch them build upon!
Math skills are one of those things that we must continue to work on throughout the year in order to keep them fresh and ready to learn! I love that Learning Resources offers many options for keeping school skills in general alive and well during off months, as well as promoting educational interactions throughout the year! You can purchase the 100 Ant Picnic math set directly from Learning Resource or from Amazon, too! Be sure to follow Learning Resources on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram to keep up on great ways to promote school skills with your children!
