Our friends at BikeLoot.com have kindly provided another great box of products to review. Since the concept behind this subscription box is not new, I thought it best to concentrate on the products within for my second review.
As I mentioned in my previous review, BikeLoot.com provides bicycle focused products centered on the idea of improving your ride performance. The box enables the user to try a useful variety of products at a very convenient price without potential excess waste inherent in purchasing a larger quantity through traditional means. This time around my box included a wide array of bike products to sample. Everything from an Amsterdam Wafel to sports detergent. All of these products provided benefits necessary to any cyclist.
First out of the box was a Chocolate Agave drink called Chocolate # 9. This product only contains two ingredients: organic agave nectar and breakfast cocoa. They combine to make a quick, convenient energy supplement with a low glycemic index. Essentially a low glycemic index foods energy releases evenly over time, instead of abruptly as in highly processed foods such as in sugary drinks or candy.
Secondly, there was a small sampling of Perky Jerky. Containing all-natural beef and turkey, this product also has a marinade which is composed of Guarana. Guarana is a naturally occurring plant with one of the highest natural concentrations of caffeine. So this product combines the high protein of a traditional jerky with the energizing bonus of a dose of caffeine. Bonus: It actually tastes good!
Third out of the box is a product called the Baobab Drink Mix. This mix, as its name implies, contains Baobab: a fruit from Africa containing an extraordinary amount of various vitamins and minerals. This mix provides a 16oz serving. Low in calories, nutritious and delicious equal a very useful product for all riders (or anyone interested in good nutrition for that matter!)
Next we have the Rip van Wafels: Amsterdam Wafel. The package contained a single size, caramel filled wafel useful for a pre-ride pick me up. I tried it one morning with my usual cup of hot coffee. Carefully placing the unpackaged wafer on the rim of my coffee mug provided me with a delightful warm caramel filled morning treat. Best of all: the Rip van Wafel is only comprised of natural food! Truly a morning delight.
Hydration is always essential to a rider. Fortunately, there are solutions if you prefer, as I do, to not drink heavy and oftentimes needlessly sugary sport drinks. Elete Electrolytes provides a useful selection of small vials of pure electrolytes you can add to your water to instantly provide you with the restorative pure electrolytes without the artificial gunk in your average energy drink. Quite useful and nearly undetectable once added to your water bottle. Great product!
Finally we wrap up with the most useful product of all (at least if you asked my wife!) That being the Win Sports Detergent. Purported to clean your synthetic fiber cycling kit without causing any undue wear or fading. This sports detergent does an excellent job of removing stubborn stink from your heavily used cycling clothing. Useful as well to keep your wife from resorting to using a pair of tongs to remove your cycling shorts from your biohazard cont- I mean… hamper.
All in all, a useful selection of a wide range of products that provided me some surprising options of future purchases. I really enjoy unwrapping this subscription box and seeing what great things it contains within!
Hey all! Krista checking in again! As you can see, Andrew is loving this BikeLoot.com subscription box as it gives him a chance to try out a variety of products that can augment his riding experience. I remain a fan because we are not spending a ton of money on a product that he may like or just wants to test out. The Bike Loot box serves to satisfy his curiosity and really show him products that he might like. As he mentioned, I like the detergent for his biking gear – with the number of miles he logs daily and year round (yes, the man bikes through Wisconsin snowy winters and even our hot/humid summers!), he also logs a lot of stink! Be sure to visit BikeLoot.com on Facebook and Twitter to get the scoop on what may show up in the next box, biking tips and more! If you or a biker you know (great holiday gift idea!), would love to try this box, use coupon code SAVORYLOOT through December 13, 2013 to save yourself $5 on your first box!
