I love when you find a perfect gift that can cover a ton of people all at once. With both of the girls in school now, we have double the teachers to get gifts for throughout the year. Yes, I can hear you now, “but Krista, you don’t have to buy teachers gifts…” And you would be absolutely correct, I don’t have to do much, however, I figure that the people who spend more waking hours with my children during the school year deserve a little something as a token of our appreciation. While I wish we could afford to give them a large gift card, unfortunately, that just is not in our budget, so I try to choose something useful. Teachers have plenty of apple themed goods, knickknacks declaring them #1 and picture frames to last them a long time. I also have on good source that most will not eat homemade goodies since they do not know where they originated – so save yourself some time and go with something useful. This year we will be getting each of our teachers custom tumblers from Pea of Sweetness and a gift card to a local coffee shop tucked into each one. I received a custom tumbler, a glass and a decal in exchange for my honest opinion.
What did I think?
Emilee, owner of Pea of Sweetness, a little shop of homemade fun, specializes in custom vinyl decals that can personalize nearly any product. She also makes cloth diapers, purses and hairclips (and I am guessing – a whole lot more!)! She has a few samples on her Esty shop to get your creative juices flowing, but definitely give her a shout to make a request and she can help get your custom product made. She took my blog logo and turned it an awesome tumbler that is now my official blogging water cup. She used my favorite color (pink!) and despite all the tricky (and thin/broken up) lines of my logo, she did a beautiful job translating this onto the tumbler. I cannot wait to have her make a tumbler for the girls’ teachers – I know they will love them as much as I do!
I also received a glass from Pea of Sweetness with one of my favorite quotes. The quote is “The ‘Earth’ Without ‘art’ is Just ‘eh’.” This quote sums up our family well – we are huge supporters of the arts and even have season tickets to several of our local theaters. I love that I have a way to share my thoughts in a fun and conversation provoking way. I have kept this glass at my desk at work and have used it as both a water glass and more recently, as a little vase for some flowers that a coworker brought me from her garden. It never fails, every time someone notices the glass, they read the quote and then I can chat with them about what the arts mean to me. The possibilities are endless! You could even have an entire set made with your favorite team’s logo or silly phrases. To really put the cherry the top, Emilee included a little note explaining that everything had been washed with eco-friendly dishsoap, but should be washed again following the mailing process. I loved that she included this detail and more so that she is using green practices in her business!
Finally, she sent me a great decal of my blog’s logo. I have not yet had a chance to apply this, but am hoping to convince hubby soon that it “needs” to be on the car. What I love most about vinyl decals is how easy they are to apply to things like your wall or car or anything else with a smooth surface. If hubby doesn’t relent on the car decal, I will likely apply it to my laptop since it is the official blogging device of Savory Savings!
If you are thinking about custom gifts for holidays, birthdays, bachelorette parties or more, I would highly recommend Pea of Sweetness. Her attention to detail is amazing and her craftsman ship is great (I could never keep my hand steady enough to apply the decals to glasses, particularly one with crazy lines like what I selected!).
