As a plus sized woman, shopping for clothes can be one of the worst things to do. I mean, you go into any store and the plus size sections are usually small and contain clothes that amount to tents in obnoxious prints and colors. Did you know that the average American woman is a size 14? Which by most brand standards, is considered plus size. If so many of us are of the curvy side of things, why do brands cater almost exclusively to rail thin women (love you skinny ladies, some of my very besties are incredibly thin – but shopping divides us – they love clothes shopping. Me? Not so much!) While I may have curves, I still want to look trendy. I mean, I will be 30 this year – that does not equal dead! So where’s a voluptuous girl like myself supposed to go to find clothes? Online, of course. Many retailers have relegated their plus size lines to online business only, which for me, is fine. After too many visits to dimly lit, too many mirror fitting rooms, I would much rather shop from the privacy of my own home. That being said, these retailers still think that curvy women are into odd prints or outfits that are not made to flatter a true hourglass figure.
